I am in receipt of a despatch from the

Chief Inspectors of Salt Revere, instruction me to

arrange for the release of the interned patrolling

vessels "Chai 8i" and "Tingling", now lying in the

typhoon shelter at Taumati.

The Chief Inspectors intend to have these

vessels thoroughly repaired in Hongkong, and placed

into commission under the direct control of the

Kwangtung District Inspectors of Salt Revere at

Canton, and it is on this express understanding, that

I now ask for their release.

The vessels will be mainly used for the

collection of revenue, and for transporting officials

on inspection tours.
